An excellent instructable. It seems houses with whole house filters all are implemented in different ways, so it's great to point out the key elements: the bypass circuit, the pressure release buttons on top of canisters, those sometimes infuriating O-rings. A couple of points, I have 4.5x20' canisters and I have to reach over about 18' to align them properly. The old filters are are saturated with water and for this size are heavy and very difficult to catch as the final thread is releasing. I also found it difficult to properly align canisters to get them back in place with the new filter. Solution: a beaker jack made for labs. I got a stainless steel one that doesn't rust. I just raise it under the canister and as I unscrew it the jack takes the entire weight. With the new filter in place I can align the canister square before starting to tighten it. Changing filters was a chore but now relatively easy. I will also reinforce your use of food safe silicone grease. I've had many O-rings dive into the canister before tightening and the silicone grease keeps them in their channel effectively.
